Photographer's Note

Soubran is a village and commune in South-West France in the dйpartement of Charente-Maritime.

In 2016 it had a population of 382. Unlike many French villages of a similar size it has managed to retain some local shops, notably a baker's, a butcher's, a post office, a bar/restaurant and a small grocery store. It also boasts a inevitable church, a mairie and a war memorial plus a school and a library.

Hello Stephen,
It's a very plain but quite nice building with a modest charm. I can't make up my mind whether it looks abandoned or just... old. In any case the photo has a perfect clarity and nice colours. The flowers in the foreground provide fine yellow spots.

Grande maison typique de la rйgion. Maison rйservйe (en principe) а des personnages d'importance dans la ville ou le village.
J'aime la pompe а eau а proximitй de l'entrйe. La porte d'entrйe moderne casse le rythme de la faзade (je reconnais que c'est plus agrйable qu'une porte qui ferme mal)...

A very nice impression of this village on a quiet and sunny day. The clarity and sharpness are perfect and I particular like the shutters of the house, which stand out so nicely from the faзade. The blue sky was the perfect backdrop.
