A glimpse of the Monolithic Church and its bell tower, captured from a side street in Saint-Йmilion.

Saint-Йmilion is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in south-western France.

Saint-Йmilion's history goes back to prehistoric times. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with fascinating Romanesque churches and and other buildings stretching along its steep and narrow streets.

The Romans planted vineyards in what was to become Saint-Йmilion as early as the 2nd century. In the 4th century, the Latin poet Ausonius lauded the fruit of the bountiful vine.

Saint-Йmilion is now one of the principal red wine areas of Bordeaux along with the Mйdoc, Graves and Pomerol. The region is much smaller than the Mйdoc and adjoins Pomerol. As in Pomerol and the other appellations on the right bank of the Gironde, the primary grape varieties used are the Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with relatively small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon also being used by some chвteaux.

Hello Stephen,
This small town offered lots of good photo opportunities. In this view towards the church the ivy covering the entire wall to the left is a perfect eye-catcher. It is to some extent balanced by the plant in the window to the right. The colourful mannequins play the same role as humans would have done to enliven the view. It's a very well composed photo with attractive colours.

Seems a quiet street scene revealing its architectural appeal that deserves the capture on a slight overcast without much shade and shadow. Detail on the main feature is great with bit of vivid red lends a punchy finishing touch. A nicely done shot pleasing in the eyes. Congrats

The street leads my eyesight toward the church which is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the imposing church. The light is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice dya.

Hello Stephen, a good view along the street towards the church and its interesting tower. The people just below the tower look tiny, and therefore add scale.
The mannequins add good foreground interest, and our eyes follow the road to the church.
Lots of patterns and soft colours, lovely.

The dual lines of the flagstone street give wonderful lead in lines and linear perspective culminating in the majestic bg Gothic Cathedral. The potplants, mannequins and lamp provide interesting fg details. Tfs!

Well placed the tower through the narrow street, Stephen.
It looks that new building on right side was built upon the old paved alley. The climber plant on left contrast the stony surrounding and the displayed dressed-dummies are evidence of life goe's on there.
