Vйzelay Abbey (French: Abbaye Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Vйzelay) was a Benedictine and Cluniac monastery in Vйzelay in the Yonne department in northern Burgundy, France. The Benedictine abbey church, now the Basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine (Saint Mary Magdalene), with its complicated program of imagery in sculpted capitals and portals, is one of the outstanding masterpieces of Burgundian Romanesque art and architecture. Sacked by the Huguenots in 1569, the building suffered neglect in the 17th and the 18th centuries and some further damage during the period of the French Revolution.[1]
The church and hill at Vйzelay were added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1979.

Hello dear Philippe,
Very nice birdseye view of this nice basilica.
Had never seen before one with two bell towers on both ends allthough there are some samples were the both towers are at the right and left of the main entrance.
Very good layout.

Les arbres cadrent bien la basilique. La prise de vue permet de voir les dйtails de l'architecture de la basilqie Sainte-Marie-Madeleine. Il y a un bon contraste entre les couleurs du toit et celles des murs. Bonne journйe.

En regardant cette composition, j'ai peur de me faire prendre au jeu des miniatures comme dans ta rйcente publication. Mais les arbres autour semblent mature. Alors , bravo pour le point de vue.

Hello Philippe,
This is a wonderful church and if I remember correctly it was among those mentioned as outstanding examples of Romanesque architecture when I studied art history a very long time ago. It is obviously worth a visit and you found a great POV which also shows a part of the nice garden.
