The Chвteau d’Azay-le-Rideau is located in the town of Azay-le-Rideau in the French dйpartement of Indre-et-Loire. Built between 1518 and 1527, this chвteau is considered one of the foremost examples of early French renaissance architecture. Set on an island in the middle of the Indre river, this picturesque chвteau has become one of the most popular of the chвteaux of the Loire valley.

Au cњur de la Touraine, le chвteau d'Azay-le-Rideau est bвti sur une оle au milieu de l'Indre. Enlacй par les bras de l'Indre, le chвteau fut bвti entre 1518 et 1523 par le maire de Tours et trйsorier du roi Franзois Ier, Gilles Berthelot et par sa femme, Philippa Lesbahy ; il s'agit d'un chef-d'њuvre de la premiиre Renaissance franзaise.Les jardins actuels ont йtй profondйment rйamйnagйs au XIXe siиcle par les propriйtaires de l’йpoque, qui les redessinent en un grand parc paysagй, а l’anglaise. Au sud et а l'ouest, ils sont dotйs de deux miroirs d'eau dans lesquels se reflиtent les faзades.

The image of the Chвteau is colourful, bright and vivid. The reflection on the still waters is facinating and beautiful. Greenery on either side and the blue sky above gives the photograph good variety of shades and colour.
The reflection makes for the bottom half of the photograph. It effectively mirrors the whole of the visible portion of the Chвteau.

This is such a beautiful chateau. You have been able to capture it with wonderful clarity, both in reality and as a reflection. The sky is attractive, too, and makes a lovely backcloth.
When we were there it was buzzing with people. There was some sort of fete on.
