Photographer's Note

Buren rings : They are an artwork by Daniel Buren, situated on "Quai des Antilles" (West Indies Quay) along the Loire in Nantes. The artwork was created for "Estuaire 2007", a contemporary art exhibition along the Loire Estuary from Nantes to St Nazaire.
Buren says himself he conceived his work in 5 seconds when looking at the place. It's only later that he interpreted his own work in different ways :
--A frame for the eye to look forward, from the city to the sea via the river or vice-versa.
--The rings could also refer to wedding rings uniting the Sea, the River and the Land.
--A more morbid interpretation is the rings which incarcerated the slaves when the city of Nantes took a sadly important part in the Triangular Commerce of slavery.
But Buren says himself that he wants his work to remain open to different interpretations according to each one's sensitivity.

The dome you can see in the middle of the first ring belongs to the church "Notre Dame du Bon Port" also known as "St Louis Church" (1852)

The picture is very clear and the circles are curious and leads the eye to the bottom of the image. The architecture in the background is also very beautiful.

nice the nocturne shot of the Buren colourful rings,through the larger one we can see the dome of the church of Notre Dame du Bon Port.I like the light and the colour management,the close up in the WS,as we can see with details this art work.These Buren rings,can stand as independent photos on the site.

Magnificent night shot, MarieLouise, and I like the WS's as well. No excessive bulbs-glare and pleasnt illumination to look at, notably the Dome is within the first light-circle.

Tu as choisi un bon pdv qui a donnй de la perspective et de la profondeur а l'image et subtilement bien placй le dфme de l'йglise dans un des anneaux colorйs, ce qui a(а mon avis) produit un bon йquilibre.
La note et les photos complйmentaires sont йgalement intйressantes.

Amitiйs et un peu tardivement meilleurs vњux ;)

une perspective magnifique de ces cercles lumineux, qui se dйtachent sur l'obscuritй de la nuit, dans une prise nocturne trиs bien rйalisйe.
J'aime les jolies couleurs de cette illumination, et la prйsence de la coupole de l'йglise а l'intйrieur du premier cercle.
C'est une belle composition, avec 4 belles photos complйmentaires dans les WS.
