Photographer's Note
The machinery of the island are "located at the crossroads of 'invented worlds' of Jules Verne, the mechanical universe of Leonardo da Vinci and the industrial history of Nantes" (Tourism Nantes) .
Their creation was decided by the board of the Metropolitan Nantes June 18, 2004. They were inaugurated in 2007 and are managed by Nantes culture & heritage through public service delegation of Nantes Métropole.
The International Tourism Fair group has awarded them in October 2007 its Special Jury Prize, which rewards innovative tourist equipment.

Hello Valerie!
Wow very impressive photo, I had heard about a Troyan Horse but not about a "Troyan" elephant! Great composition and framing, great light management under dificult conditions!

Hello Valerie,
Your post from three weeks ago attracted my interest, for the overwhelming mechanical elephant, as much as by the note, "the mechanical universe of Leonardo..." I've written two books on Leonardo, and it gives me great satisfaction to see the celebration of his achievements. And yet, with his dying breath, he asked an assistant, "Did anything get done!" We look at his astonishing works and wonder whether there might not have been a dozen different supreme geniuses all using the same name. You have some wonderful posts. I believe, I would have lightened the elephant a little more, but chaque a son gout!
Warm regards and have a good weekend.
Bulent
