Photographer's Note
Good Morning Friends,
I always like to visit Paimpol when we go to Brittany because of its beach and its port. There is always something interesting to see, especially from the comfort of a pavement café.
On this occasion, we were exploring the portside shops when I noticed these two colourful cranes. With their reflections, they reminded me of synchronised swimmers!
Can you see the similarity?
Have a lovely day, Bev :-)

Hi Bev
Well spotted and captured! Beautiful colours and great reflection. Yes, synchronised swimmers or a rowing boats race. :-)
Have a nice day

Hello Bev,
I am not sure about the synchronised swimmers but the reflections are certainly very attractive in the rippling waters of the harbour. Good choice of the vertical format to frame the cranes and their reflections. Agreeable light and colours; very good sharpness.

Bonjour Beverly
J'apprécie que tu aies bien pris soin de ne pas couper les reflets des grues dans l'image. Cela donne une image très soignée avec de bien jolies couleurs coordonnées.

Hello Bev,
This clever observation gave you a superb composition. It's amazing how very ordinary things, not very beautiful by themselves, can produce something as smart and elegant as this when seen from the right spot by the right pair of eyes.
Kind regards,
Gert

Good evening Beverly, and thanks for the note written.
Ports and other waterfront activities always an intriguing subjects.
Found the two cranes in blue and yellow, contrast the mostly brown and grey surrounding - yet, with the inevitable reflection on the calm water surface. white boats are a nice bonus to this beautiful compo.
Best regards,
Ike

Hello Bev,
Ah, the reflections are absolutely wonderful here, I've always really liked them, as you can see in my most recent post. ;-) The yellow colours in the blue surroudings look great.

Hello Bev,
Your composition is nice here using the reflection to create depth and balance for the shot. The vertical format is perfect here allowing closeup detail along with the depth of the scene. The lighting is fine and the photo has excellent sharpness and detail.

Hello Bev,
Very well seen and very well taken too! How clever of you to spot this symmetry and to present it so well.
Your composition is excellent with the two booms of the cranes perfectly parallel as are their reflections in the smooth water beneath. All the elements are pleasingly arranged within the frame, your exposure is perfect and the details and sharpness are exquisite.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. I did say that this picture was sharp. And it is - stunningly sharp. But have you seen what TE has been doing over the past couple of days? They seem to be resizing all pictures to 800 pixels wide, whether the original image is larger or smaller.
So, when I view this picture at its "proper" width of 611 pixels (as you uploaded it), it's perfectly sharp. But on the "new" TE website it's been enlarged to 800 pixels in width and the quality is dreadful - and it's totally unsharp too. Have a look yourself if you don't believe me.
I see that you've also had a wee discussion with Craig about this and I've also posted a message or two on the forum - hopefully one of the administrators might take heed and do something. Poor Craig sounds like he's about to undertake self immolation.

Hi Bev
Haha, i have a few photos like this in my personal gallery from our large Port of Vancouver. Just haven't gotten around to posting them.
basically every subject in the scene has its own positives.
love the cranes, love the two yellow vehicles, love the 2 rustic buildings in the bg and you can never go wrong with having a couple of boats in a scene with reflections.
lots to like here.
see you around

Hello Bev
Two aspects of photography I like - reflections and graphic shapes/lines. The blue - yellow contrast makes these cranes jump out from the scene too. Interestingly' many years ago I was working laying paving slabs at a "Plant Hire Exhibition" at Haydock Park and I was surrounded by such cranes. Some of the first photos I ever took with pretensions of being a photographer were of cranes... I probably would have ignored this shot as a result of that experience.
Thanks
Mike
