Photographer's Note

In my opinion these guys could be called ambassadors of good mood.

Leningrad Cowboys, a Finnish showband, performing together with the Red Army Air Force Choir at Helsinki International Airshow.
Happy Together, a The Turtles cover, has always been part of their repertoire. To get the idea what they sound and look like, here's a Youtube clip from their gig at the Senat Square of Helsinki, 1993.

And if you aren't in a good mood, the man with the trumpet and his mate with the accordion will put you in a good mood whether you are in a good mood or not..

Very good addition to the Good Mood Day.
Even the name of the band is funny. At first it's not easy to tell which are the band and which are the AF Choir.

Thanks for this Kari. I had a double whammy of laughs watching the video as well as looking at the photo. The weird hairdos coupled with the military uniforms is so incongruous.
You should go into the hair lacquer business! ;D

They really are funny and even better in the YouTube clip.

Since messages seem to be down since the latest upgrade, I'll wish you a great Caribbean trip. There's a big disparity between the income of the tourist and the residents; which I find uncomfortable.

Hi Kari,

This is fabulous.

I can remember seeing Leningrad Cowboys Go America years ago and this captures the spirit of Kaurismaki's movie (or perhaps the director perfectly captured the spirit of the band).

There is a mix of surreal, but good-mood presentation, with what seems to an outsider as a very Finnish seriousness.
