Roofs in the old town of Dubrovnik, southern Croatia.
Dubrovnik, classified as a world heritage by the UNESCO, dates its history back to the 7th century, but most of the old town that exists today was built after an earthquake in 1667.
In 1991 and 1992 shelling by Serb forces caused extensive damage to the city. After the war careful restoration has taken place.
