Taken during my bicycle trip in my own municipality.

PAPINLO.

History:

The Papinglo abbey farm is located in Maldegem-Kleit, on the southern corner of the Kleitkalseide (old road) and the N44, known by many tourists as a connecting road between Aalter and Maldegem towards Knokke. The Papinglo domain, the first written reference of which can be found in a document from 1170, is situated in the Maldegemveld, in the 12th century still a wild heathland that was gradually brought into cultivation, together with the Drongengoedhoeve (Ursel) and the Burkelhoeve (Clay).
In the meantime, the farm has been converted into a hotel restaurant. The barn was demolished and is now a hotel, the stable a restaurant and the house retains its function. Although the Papinglo domain is not the core from which Kleit originated, it has exercised an important attraction since the Middle Ages to settle in its surroundings. The population of Kleit has therefore always felt closely involved with Papinglo, hence the desire to maintain the domain. Kleit has always remained part of Maldegem without being an independent congregation, although the parish had its own church from 1863 onwards.

Hello John,
I see that the old farm has found a new use. It's good that such fine old buildings can be preserved when farming is too much hard work or maybe not profitable. You took this photo from a good angle with the pond as the main focal point and the white buildings with red brick roofs grouped around it. The fine reflections in the water came automatically.

De compositie is mooi met de drie witte gebouwen rond om het gras en het kalme water. De spiegelingen zijn heel mooi en helder en ook de wolkenlucht is aantrekkelijk.

Hallo John,
Prachtige foto van deze abdijhoeve met het groen tussen de drie gebouwen in en een kleine vijver op de voorgrond.
Deze weerspiegelt de lucht en de boompjes heel goed.
De compositie is voortreffelijk. Een interessant onderwerp helder en scherp getoond. Mooie wolken sieren de lucht.

Hello John, Nice view of this old farm converted into a hotel. The buildings are nicely renovated. Would be nice to stay there. Excellent early spring picture, lovely reflections., charming colours.

The fg canal offers superb, mirror like reflections of the clouds and trees as well as adding good linear perspective and lead in lines. Excellent sharpness and warm cold colour contrasts. Tfs!

Hello John,

What a fine viewpoint you have used. The pond makes a remarkably lovely f/g feature, with its brightly coloured reflections.
The buildings surround it on three sides, almost like a very interesting terracotta and white border, but it does encourage us to study them!
The details are, as always sharp and the colours well saturated. There is a little oe in the clouds but it does not spoil a lovely scene.

very photogenic farm scene. I admire a great clarity and sharpness here. Of course the strongest element of the composition is the reflection which is so vivid and even more saturated than the reality. Great point of view, excellent resulting geometry.
