Maldegem City hall

Erected from brick (Scheldt stone) with blue stone (petit granit from Soignies or Ecaussines) and covered with a slate gable roof with frost ridge and four stepped dormer windows between delineating stepped gables. Rectangular, sleek symmetrical building of eleven bays and two storeys above a high substructure, marked at the front by a square, protruding belfry tower with a double staircase and playful crowning. Substructure with plinth of bluestone blocks, rectangular barred spherical frames under a circumferential water list and delineating pillar moulding. Bruges window bays with bluestone cross-frames and Tudor arch-shaped arches rhythm the superstructure, finished with a crenelated row. The original stained-glass windows have been preserved throughout.

I am surprised to learn this photo was deleted. I don't understand why. I can't see that it would break any rule. Maybe it was a mistake. But I repeat that it's a nice building and a well exposed photo. The many illuminations create a fina atmosphere even in the absence of people.

I am glad you decided to post it again without the greeting. But it's still a bit heavy handed imho. I've had similar deletions happen to me too, but not lately. Delightful Christmas decorations with impeccable sharpness. The City Hall building in the bg is an interesting piece of architecture. Tfs!

Hello John, Happy New Year.
The dark night sky has created an interesting effect, as the roof almost disappears into the black.
The building is beautifully illuminated and the four dormer windows really stand out.
You had the added light from the decorated trees.

Hallo John,
Gezien de tekst in de foto van gisteren vreesde ik al een beetje dat het niet door de censuur heen zou komen. Het aantal actieve leden wordt steeds kleiner, maar dit deel van de site blijkt nog uitstekend te werken... Maar ook zonder de groet bovenaan is het een prachtig plaatje van het stadhuis en de vele warme lichtjes eromheen. Fijne jaarwisseling.

a nice nocturne shot, the shapes of the building looks some traditional, but there is a simplified aspect. beautiful the christmas lights and the golden hues of the compo.

:-) it happened to me too, you can say that again unbelievable.
I saw the deleted version but this one 'without the greeting' is equally beautiful.
The City Hall just lit-up so bright and beautiful with the surrounding lights. The stars-light sparkle with full of optimism and a better promising year to come.

Ik had deze foto reeds gecommentarieerd ... Ik herinner me zelfs dat ik de eerste was ...
Het gemeentehuis van Maldegem ziet er hier nog steeds even feestelijk uit met de vele boompjes met kerstverlichting op het plein en met de verschillende grote sterren.
Prachtig helder en scherp genomen.

This City hall looks great on evening lights. I like those tall windows and square pattern roof edges. All the Christmas lights are also very nice.

Excellent night picture, John, while the place looks empty, no people around maybe a lockdown and winter chill kept them at homes.
The illuminated facade and decorations in fine contrast against the dark sky.

Dag John,
We zien niet vaak foto’s in de avondlijke duisternis van jouw hand. Maar ook onder deze omstandigheden toon je een meester te zijn van het promoten van de schoonheid van Vlaanderen door middel van dit soort uitmuntende foto’s.
Ik hoop dat 2021 ondanks alles een vruchtbaar fotojaar mag worden.
