DRONGENGOEDBOS,
Archive 2015 old picture with my bicycle path through the forest.
History:
In 1242 Countess Johanna Van Constantinople and Count Thomas of Savoy donated or sold the rugged heathlands of the Maldegemveld to three different abbeys. The abbey of the Norbertines of Drongen, the St. Bavo's Abbey in Ghent and the abbey Ter Doest in Lissewege.
The reclamation of these wastelands was difficult and only reached cruising speed under the rule of abbot De Stoop in 1740. This abbot abandoned the plan to turn the Maldegemveld into an agricultural area, which proved impossible due to the hard clay soil. He had the lanes, which are still there today, constructed for forest clearing according to a checkerboard motif. In 1746 he built the new Drongengoedhoeve. The evidence for this can still be read in the two coats of arms above the gate. On the one hand, the saying of the Abbey of Drongen: vita brevis (life is short), on the other hand the personal coat of arms of abbot De Stoop: corda juncta cordibus (let the hearts be united). The farm and the area fell into private hands after the French revolution. From then on, the forest will gradually make way for agricultural land.In 1955, in the midst of the Cold War, NATO constructed an airfield in the middle of the Drongengoedbos to repel possible attacks from the Soviet bloc. In practice, the airport quickly became a reserve airport, and this until 1993. After 1993 it became the property of the Belgian army, which used it as a training field and training area, and rents it out for private use.
I hope you like it

Hello John.
The road is empty of people but that is compensated for by the many leaves on the ground and the nice depth created mainly by the trees. I see this was taken exactly five years ago, so you picked it timely from your archive. I wonder if this place would have looked the same today. It's a nice composition with the mainly green top and brown bottom.
Best regards,
Gert

Hallo John,

Hi John,
The length of the path is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the trees and of the leaves on the ground. The light is giving good colours rendering. Have a nice day.

Hallo John, the picture was taken 5 years ago to the day. The yellow and orange leaves start to cover the soil of the forest and add colorful tints to the undergrowth. That forest path is perfect to walk, cycle and breath. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello John
A quiet forest glade with an inviting track for bicycles. Good sharpness and a pleasant diffused light. Reminds me of the tracks around Nida in Lithuania. Tfs!

Bonjour, cher ami John,
Cette allée forestière est de toute beauté. les arbres pleurent leurs feuilles d'été.
Les couleurs de l'automne sont toujours étonnantes de beauté.
Amitiés.

Hello John,
You have definitely engrossed us with this photograph! The early autumnal leaves creating a warm, welcoming carpet across the guiding footpath.
I like how there are shafts of sunlight splitting the shadows.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi John,
interesting that you found an archival photo which was taken on the very same day but 5 years ago.
Wonderful autumnal scenery with some green in the very centre and colorful leaves along the way.
Beautiful nature, excellent work,

Hello John, this looks a lovely place to cycle or walk. How pleasant to walk through the trees at any time of year and watch the changing seasons.
We follow the track right to the very heart of the shot. The leaves are falling and letting more light in.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Dag John,

Vele groeten, Paul

Hi John
Wonderful woodland scene great range of greens and superb feel of depth. Lovely the way autumn colours begin to saturate the paths of the forest with such a pleasant clarity. It's a beautifully composed image of this shaded path. Congrats

Hello John,
Today I went out on my bike trip to Mastbos in Breda. I was disappointed , it's not the outcome I like, no way near to your photo here.
Lovely forest scene on both sides, long straight 'fietspad' in line with the trees to the bright end of openness. The autumnal sunshine with the fallen golden leaves, making the forest even more beautiful to see.
Maybe next time, I'll have a photo like this. Thanks for sharing and your motivation.

Five years ago, and it looks as just yesterday, John.
Autumn is the best season for photography out in the nature.
Beautiful view through the grove, fallen leaves in golden contrasting colors.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello John,
I suppose this photo was taken during your bike ride.
We can already see autumn on the path, but the trees are still green except for one.
Well done picture as well as color, light and sharpness.
Best regards,
Zbigniew
