FORDSON 1937

Dagenham, England (1933-1964)
The Model F was supposedly the product of about fifty prototypes. The engine and gearbox were those used in the Ford Model B car.

1919-22 Produced at a factory at Cork. Initially the Model F was produced on a limited scale, however in 1918 production increased substantially and in Britain the government placed an order for six thousand Model Fs.

The Model F tractor was so successful in the United States that many competitors went out of business. The Model F was not without its disadvantages but it was reliable, cheap to buy and cheap to run.

1933 The location of the factory meant that all raw materials had to be imported and this increased the production costs, therefore the Fordson factory relocated to Dagenham in England.

The Model N was selling well in the United Kingdom but Fordson's tractor sales in the United States were not as good as competitors designed machines which could outdo the Model N.

1937 Fordson then created the All-Around (also called the Row Crop) which was a general-purpose row-crop tractor.

Hallo John, these tractors are exhibited at an agricultural machinery fair. They were expensive one century ago but very strong. The vehicle in the fg was repainted in red. Fine colors, good sharpness, instructive photo note, regards.

Hello John,
63 years ago this must have been considered very modern, technically advanced and beautifully designed. I wonder what people in the year 2100 will think of the cars we admire today. I find this tractor "cute" and I love the red paint. It's a very nice photo.

Wat een mooie oude tractor, de details van de machinerie zijn mooi te zien en die felrode kleur is natuurlijk heel aantrekkelijk ook. Het steekt ook mooi af tegen de achtergrond, waar meer blauwe tinten zijn.

Vreemd om zo'n knalrode tractor te zien, wielen incluis.
Goede belichting, de tractor en de gehele binnenruimte worden helder en zeer scherp gepresenteerd.

It is quite impressive old tractor on all over red paint. I wonder if the blue one is even older, or maybe not as it has rubber tyres. And I see there are modern ones too at the background.

Hello John,

People usually try to have a lady dressed in red, as their main focal image but you have gone for a tractor dressed in red!!
It really is an eye-catching vehicle, perfectly sharp in your photograph and very nicely angled for composition.

I wonder what it felt like to drive, with no tyres on its wheels! I would imagine it was okay in the fields but very bumpy on the roads!

Red color of the old tractor made the picture very attractive, John.
There were different other tractors on exhibition, but I guess this 1937 model is one exceptional item.

J'ai connu, lors de mon enfance, les premiers tracteurs qui foulaient les diverses cultures, bien sыr, les roues comportaient des pneumatiques.
Ici, ce beau tracteur d'un rouge vif devait faire l'objet de nombreuses envies parmi les agriculteurs.

Dag John,
Prachtige foto van deze oude rode tractor. Hoewel het ontwerp in de basis gelijk is aan de huidige tractoren zijn de grote verschillen goed te zien.
Voor Nederland lijkt te gelden dat de tractor voor de boeren een reusachtig instrument om te demonstreren en de zin door te drijven i.p.v. het te gebruiken om het land te bewerken.
