My new site 180 new pictures since August 2012

Regular I want placing a portrait but almost always of older people, this is for me the most beautiful models.
This picture has been taken during a bike trip, I saw these old man sit along the way , when I spoke with these man, he said, I waiting on his son.
He was immediate agreement for a picture, nevertheless was these old man in work clothing.
When I asked his age, answered 90 years and still in good health.
He got a great congratulation of me.

The boundary between middle age and old age cannot be defined exactly because it does not have the same meaning in all societies. People can be considered old because of certain changes in their activities or social roles. Examples: people may be considered old when they become grandparents, or when they begin to do less or different work—retirement. In 2003, the age at which a US citizen became eligible for full Social Security benefits began to increase gradually, and will continue to do so until it reaches 67 in 2027. Full retirement age for Social Security benefits for people retiring in 2012 is age 66.[2] Originally, the purpose of old age pensions was to prevent elderly persons from being reduced to beggary, which is still common in some underdeveloped countries, but growing life expectancies and elder populations has brought into question the model under which pension systems were designed.

Goeiemorgen John

Mooie scherpte op het gezicht en eenvoudig/knap kleurcontract blauw/wit. Altijd plezant om een goed portret te zien. Volgens mij blijft dit de moeilijkste (en de strafste) vorm van fotografie.

Ik heb wel het idee van je titel afgesnoept voor mijn post van vandaag. De mijne is ouder...:)

Good Morning John,

It is indeed a fine portrait. It clearly captures the facial details and upper clothes. What it also does, is capture a hint of the character; there is a twinkle in the eyes and a genuine smile which reveals the pleasure he is feeling at conversing with you, at having your interest, at having his photograph taken and just telling you how good it is to be alive!
Lovely portrait style composition.

What you describe is a recipe to live well in old age, over 90: that's to say, never stop work, or doing some useful occupation.

This is a beautiful portrait of this handsome happy nonagenarian, well taken in lovely light against a plain white and non-distracting background. Lovely natural colours, perfect exposure and exquisite sharpness.

Your note is interesting too. I just hope that our economies recover sufficiently for us to be able to support the increasing numbers of older people in our society.

Great portrait of a very old man. His face gets really big impression. He's wearing a work shirt, but do not believe that it still worked. While in Poland we have such a wild capitalism that with us, and older people that do not suffer from hunger due to retirement penny, that old people sometimes have to work.

и vero che con l'allungarsi della vita media l'etа pensionistica si sta alzando in tutto il mondo, ma l'etа di 90 anni non puт essere messa in discussione anche se questo vecchietto sembra molto arzillo.
Il ritratto eseguito a regola d'arte mostra anche quello che c'и dietro una buona foto, essenziale per un risultato eccellente: l'ottimo rapporto di fiducia instaurato con il soggetto della foto.

your interest and fascination in this amiable gentleman seems reciprocating, your care and his trust gave a marvellous portrait. I like very much the way you have framed his posture giving great perspective and directness. The absence of interest in the backdrop makes all the details important and interesting. The vividness and luminosity of his eyes is superb. These days I spent some time with a British veteran of WW2 and his wife, exquisite people. You're right John, elderly people make the best models. Is this due to them having lived a full and hopefully interesting life or is down to facial features, where the skin is weather beaten and the face lined with age? Who knows, but this is indeed a wonderful portrait, there's mischief in that face and a twinkle in those eyes. To be active at the age of 90 is more than most of us could hope for.

How right you are to choose elderly people for your portraits !
What a lovely photo of this man who still lives a healthy life, thanks to his optimistic way of facing life, I think ! It shows on his face.
Your selection from Wikipedia about old age and retirement is rather interesting. I was lucky to be able to retire at 61, but true, retirement age has to increase in most countries due to people living longer and longer.
Main thing is to have a job that one enjoys if possible, and see life in a positive way.

You're a jack of all trades. Apart from your exquisite sceneries, this portrait is superb. I love its apparent simplicity. You've managed to use your skills to reveal the hidden beauty of this old man. It reminds me of the work of Depardon.

Just 90 years old, but he looks like going strong. He is healthy, no doubt, he still does what he wants. Fine pastel colour hues and high sharpness. Excellent POV. well done

I've passed by this picture numerous times as I've looked at your collection, and each time it has been more of a draw. Well, this time it really struck a cord...and so I took a closer look, and I'm glad I did because this really is a wonderful portrait!
