A picture from our Easter weekend getaway near Malmйdy in the eastern part of Belgium, not far from the German border. We spent three days there. We had great sunshine first, then this. Sometimes it snows in April. We should have known.

Malmedy (German: Malmьnd) is a city in the East of Belgium. It was part of Germany until after the Great War, when Malmedy and the other eastern cantons were annexed to Belgium by virtue of the Treaty of Versailles.

The municipality includes several outlying villages and hamlet, including Bellevaux, where they make some great craft beers. Sadly the brewery and its annex bar and terrace was closed because of covid. Fortunately there were several places in Malmйdy which sold this and other great beers from this area.

Just like neighbouring Waimes, Malmйdy is a municipality in the French-speaking part of Wallonia with facilities for German speakers.

This is one of our favourite regions in Belgium.

Hello Benny,
It's a good photo but it would have been even better with some activities among the houses down there and two or three returning hunters in the foreground. The winter scenery looks classic and a tree is well placed in the foreground. The light is dull but the exposure and colours are good.

In principe moest u niet zo ver gaan om sneeuw te zien, ook in t'Stad veel sneeuw.
Ook in Oost-Vlaanderen kregen wat sneeuw en vorst
Uw foto toont mooi het reliлf van onze Ardennen

This really is quite surprising view from Belgium in April. Lovely landscape, good high viewpoint and well placed birch on the left. White snow gives light to the grey day.

Hello Benny, snow in April, unexpected yet beautiful.
Taken from a high elevation, we can see for miles.
Almost monochrome but not quite.
A lovely scene. It reminds me of a Bruegel painting.

You seem to be complaining, but the snow makes the view very photogenic. We had snow too recently, both in Poland, where I spent a few days around Easter and in the UK just before I arrived back.
The photo taken only 10 days before your most recent upload and such a difference! Or is it a difference between Flanders and Wallonia? ;-)
