Photographer's Note
I am probably the craziest person on TE, as you know I am fascinated by many things - airports, castles, bridges, wild animals, markets, mosques, .... Also by stairs. I love stairs of all kinds. Recently, I look at some travel movies on youtube (well, more interesting than looking at the same places on TE, sadly) and I have seen the movies about the most famous staircases. Haha, I have seen some of them. But I have been surprised that according to Huffpost number 1 on the list of Most Extreme Staircases in the World are these on the picture!
A few years ago I was in Belgium. I went also to Liege to meet our friend Cricri. Pity she left the site:(. She was my guide. It was not an easy task. After the wonderful Calatrava Railway Station I insisted on going to Bueren.
The Montagne de Bueren is a 374 steps long staircase in Liège. The stairs were built in 1881 to allow soldiers on top of the hill to go down to the centre without having to walk through the dangerous alleys. When you reach the top you'll be rewarded with a great view of the city and the Meuse river.
374 steps! It is more than the steps Miguel showed us (Batu Caves, 272 steps).
In the Workshop the views from above, hahaha.
I wonder if our Belgium and Dutch friends climbed them.

Hello Malgo,
Another photo you should have showed long ago. It's not only the stairs that are impressive, but just as much the brick buildings, which are nice by themselves but also for how they help to give the view such great depth (or height?). The colours and exposure are very nice. The only slight drawback is that the girls is posing rather stiffly (for someone else?). The WS are nice too.
If ever the pandemic stops and you can go back to your crazy journeys around the earth you will have to go to the Girnar Hills in Gujarat to climb the 9.999 steps to the top.
Have a nice week.

Hello Malgo, three good shots of the steps, this is the one that I like the best.
The steps reach the vanishing point, maybe there are even more that we cannot see.
The brick buildings on the right are a strong feature of this view.
Interesting notes.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Malgo,
The presence of the persons is adding life to the scene. These stairs are impressive, its length is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the stairs. During my visit in Florence in March 2018, I had to go up stairs to reach the top a a hill, it was a tiring effort. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
These are indeed the most famous stairs of Belgium.
After all, there are not really many urban locations in the country with such height difference. This is therefore an exceptional location.
To be honest, I was only in Liège twice in my life and I have not seen these stairs. Not yet.
You have to keep something beautiful to visit later in life :)
BTW, had Christiane been there before she went with you?
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgo,
Oh my, I already got tired just by looking at these endless stairs. I missed them when I was in Liège, probably just too much drawn to the railway station. Great view up the steps, especially with the brick walls and architecture on both sides.

Ciao Malgo, really impressive and it is interesting to see that this staircase is among the most famous in the documentary you have seen. Very long to climb, but on a cool day it can be done, I remember the one to see a monastery in Rhodes with over 2000 steps and that I did at 35 degrees .. hehe ... two beautiful opposite views for a post that it is also a memory of Cricri. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi Malgo
You don't think all that much about Belgium having staircases like this one. A good photo of them with most people pausing to enjoy the view, which all of us not so young ones do on steep stairs or hills.
cheers

Philippe

Hello, Belgium is nicknamed "the flat country" but this part of Liege is steep. 374 steep stairs are a lot to climb, they can be used by sportpersons for training. The viewpoint provides an excellent depth. The people animate the scene. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hi Malgorzata
Indeed very steep! The finished composition is absolutely superb: the people giving a sense of direction .. up, up.. while deep matured colours turns this an appealing shot - those stairs must have seen many feet. Not only an interesting and informative narrative but a superbly realised from a well thought out point of view. This in turn allows one to capture the wonderful array of horizontals balanced by verticals, A wonderful shot

Hello Malgo
Great perspective. You don't need a gym having these stairs!
I like the difussed light here.

is is a high staircase, but I guess the one in hermopolis in greece was much more high. I liked the repetition of steps and the girl posing in the FG. if you like stairs it would be nice to visit Braga in portugal (two monumental ones) and a similar one in congonhas do campo, brazil.
take care

Hi Malgo, It doesn't surprise me that these stairs are among the most extreme - you'd think the soldiers would be exhausted by the time they got to the top. Nice use of the girl in at the bottom to provide a focal point and an idea of scale. Cheers, Steve

Hi Malgorzata,
You are a photograph with the ability to capture either a place , an experience an idea, or a moment. For this reasonyour picture is worth a thousand words.
Your photographs can convey a feeling faster than, and sometimes even more effectively than words can. you can make the viewer see the world the way the photographer sees it.

Hello Malgo,
If I had to give this street a name, I would name it "Heart Attack Street." It is very charming, though.

MT
PS. Some universities have had to go online already, after a week or two of face-to face instruction. We are hoping that due to the small size of the college, we will be able to continue face-to-face instruction.

Hello Malgo,
I don't know how I missed this photo before. This staircase is definitely impressive! I like the red brick on the lower right side, too. I give you credit for climbing all the way to the top. I don't think I would have made it. Ha ha! Take care!
