Church Kortrijk

History
The papal documents from 1371 mention the chapel that Louis of Male had built in Kortrijk, dedicated to the saint who was celebrated at the time on his birthday, November 29, 1330 (later the feast day of Catherine was moved to November 25). The start of the construction works may therefore probably be set shortly before 1370. The buildings were executed in Brabant style.
Louis of Male chose this chapel to be buried there. That is why he founded three chapel niches in the chapel on 30 May 1374, for which he had already obtained permission from Pope Gregory XI on 16 October 1371. The first mentions of the burial monument of Louis of Male on which Andrй Beauneveu worked were dated 1374. After the victory in Westrozebeke (1382), Breton mercenaries from the French army plundered Kortrijk and then set fire to the city, while the Gravenkapel was not spared. The fire from 1382 probably did not destroy the roofs and roofs. The Gravenkapel was thoroughly restored in 1410. In 1386, the Catherine statue of Beauneveu was transferred to the chapter.

Another interesting capture/entry in your gallery. Photographycally and informative perfect TE job.
Allthough a quite old church, interesting the modern stained galss arworks behind the altar.
Many good and usefull notes.

Definitely an eye candy interior with golden touch, symmetry and a plenty of detail to savour. Sincerely I feel this is too luminous exposing the shadows too much sometimes flattens the image resulting in loss of depth and stronger impact - hope it's acceptable to you. That said, it's an adequate shot, Well done.

Hallo John, sculptures are placed on the altar in marble, one of them on the right represents a skeleton, there are also two angels. The panels are carved with texts. The stained glasses in the bg embellish the church interior. The pov creates a symmetrical effect. Fine colors, good image quality and excellent light, instructive photo note, regards.

I very much like the interior and main alters of these chapels and cathedrals. The artisanship and composition of the settings are a testimony of faith.
