Photographer's Note

De Panne is a small town on the Belgian North Sea coast. It has a large sandy beach, which is popular for walking and all sorts of sports.

A sail wagon is a lightweight wind driven vehicle. They can go very fast and land sailing can be very spectacular.

We usually visit De Panne around the new year on a quiet winter break from all the festivities and parties. Going for walks, feeling the wind, doing nothing much. This year the winds were rather strong.

Dag Benny,

Even De Panne aangedaan, er wordt stevig gereden met deze zeilwagens, er gebeuren regelmatig ongevallen mee.
Uw foto is mooi, met een deel strand en een deel van de zee.
U plaatste de zeilwagen mooi aan de kant, op de juiste plaats.
Heel mooi foto werk bedankt.

Ahoy there on land!

Must be an exciting sport which depends entirely on wind power that you have got such a great shot. The 'three-wheeled yacht' is spot on position at the third produces good balance for composition stability, the brightness is just right, well exposed and the water actions adds some depth as well as an indication of wind direction.

The rich punchy colours and long shadows are real bonus heightening it to a very appealing overall capture. Great capture, Congrats

Hallo Benny,
De horizontale afwisseling tussen zand en water maakt een erg aantrekkelijk compositie. De golven op zee zorgen bovendien voor een mooi patroon op de achtergrond. De strandzeiler is een mooie toevoeging, er stond duidelijk een stevige wind, maar ook het warme zonlicht is prachtig. De beste wensen voor een heel mooi 2018!

Hi Benny.
I know this place - years ago we took a tram which went all the way along the coast; we got off in a couple of places. I remember the name De Panne, but I can't be sure if we got out there. It was a freezing grey day in January. Anyway, it's a classical composition, with the sailing vehicle superbly placed against a pleasing pattern of parallel lines, textures and colours. I must admit, I wondered if it was a model at first. But from your note I see it is a thrilling sort of experience for those who 'sail' these minimalistic vehicles.

What a fine composition with this small "sail wagon" or "sand yacht" on the foreshore !
Great compo with the different layers of blue sea streams on the sand as well as the sea and breaking waves in the background.
Very attractive indeed !
Is it a sea-gull that I can spot on the sea ?
