The text speaks today, but with corona a lot of rules have been imposed by the government.

All (good) children on post! Sinterklaas returns to Ghent on Sunday
The Saint returns to Ghent after two years.

GHENT - Sinterklaas has already made his appearance in Antwerp, but he is not forgetting the Ghent children either.
Anyone aged 10 or older must wear a mouth mask, and anyone aged 12 or older must also present a Covid Safe Ticket. The capacity in the zone is limited to 2,000 people, so it is important to arrive on time.
Sinterklaas welcomes you with a song, and from 3 p.m. all children can practice for a while. At half past three, Sinterklaas arrives and walks through the back of De Krook towards the Platteberg.
At 4.15 pm the exciting moment follows: then we find out whether all Ghent children have been good. Anyone who wants to meet or wave to Sinterklaas briefly – from a safe distance – can do so from 4.30 pm in the entrance of De Krook.
The holy man and his helpers say goodbye around 5.30 pm. After all, there is still a lot of work to be done before December 6.
If you can't wait until Sunday, you can already start making your own 'waving saint'. On the website of the City of Ghent you will find a printable template with which you can start tinkering.

Hello John,
This is very different from the usual views of tourists on sightseeing trips on the canals. The old style costumes go quite well with the old buildings, most of which are quite beautiful, although one or two would need some restoration. I like the good exposure and the fine reflections.

Een goede foto van deze twee kleine bootjes op het kalme water met Sinterklaas en verschillende pieten. De oude gebouwen langs het water zijn een heel mooi decor en ook de spiegelingen zijn heel goed.

This is a great photo, and it's nice to see some holiday cheer, even if this was actually taken a few years ago. The old houses are a wonderful backdrop for the two, small boats, and I like the reflections on the canal, too. Take care!

in Oost-Vlaanderen!
He enlivens of a spectacular procession this beautiful view on the Flanders captured especially to outcome an intense perspective of historic buildings. Very pleasing to look at!

Hallo John,
6 december is bijna voorbij en de Sint is weer niet geweest bij mij :(
Jij bent hem zelf gaan opzoeken in Gent.
De Sint lijkt heel zeker van zijn stuk en is niet bang om in het water te vallen.
Goede weerspiegelingen in het water van de rij oude woningen.
Vermits Sinterklaas slechts in enkele landen gevierd wordt, denk ik dat vele andere TE-leden hem hier verwarren met de Amerikaanse Santa Claus, eveneens een oude man met witte baard maar zonder rode mijter, staf of paard. Evenmin een historische figuur.

This is a charming photo so well chosen for the St Claus day! The riverside is so attractive and in spite of the cloudy weather it feels so colorful. The reflection is quite vibrant as well.

Hello John,

Christmas is very much a festival for children, to nourish their kindness and their excitement. What a lovely way for Santa to arrive and, as shown here, in the perfect setting!
This would make a lovely picture for December, to be displayed on a calendar!

As always, you have chosen an excellent angle to create depth and to include exquisite details of the crowded boats and the canal-side buildings. The reflections are an additional bonus.

Hi John.
What an ideal photo with the two boats and Santa Claus arriving in the city, very well accompanied, something that the children of the city should be filled with joy.
The setting is incomparable with the canal and the beautiful facades.

I've missed this photo ... :-)
This year I've not seen the Sinterklass and ZwartePieten in Breda.
I think your photo has compensated my disappointment :-)
Such a lovely scene ... that the Sinterklass is arriving with a small boat , all the way from Spain.
This is a good example of the Zwarte Piet , not 'Schoorsteen Piet' nowadays ...
I love Ghent city too. Hopefully , one day I'll.
Thanks for sharing this 2008 ... happy times before corona.
