Maria Schnee Chapel
This baroque pilgrimage church was founded in 1637 by Lukas Tschofen II, member of a respected family from the 17th century, because he promised to built church if he was saved from misery. It's an important baroque pilgrimage church and is a famous landmark. The traditional baroque art and the rare representations of the Shroud of Turin (at the Grace altar from the 17th century) and of the legend of Maria Schnee (ceiling fresco on the right side) are worth a visit. The figures of St. Lukas and St. Anna above the choir arch represent Lukas Tschofen III. and his wife Anna Clawothing, owners of the biggest inn of the Montafon region in the 17th century (Alpenrose Inn, burnt down in 1927). The Lukas Tschofen parlour (1681) at the offices of the local authority reminds of Lukas Tschofen VI. as does the Lukas-Tschofen House next to the road to Partenen.
Gaschurn, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Bludenz, alt. 979 m, pop. 1,714, area 176.78 km2, bi-seasonal tourism (424,748 overnight stays), situated in the upper Montafon valley close to the Swiss border; the municipality consists of the Walser settlement G. (first documented mention 1423) and the Partenen village (1499); largest municipality of Vorarlberg in terms of area.

Bonjour George

Hi George
What a charming scene, typical of this area. The chapel is happily set against the mountain backdrop and the green scenery is very pleasing to the eye. A lovely spring shot.

Hallo George!
Even in the thumbnail I realize this small chapel. In some weeks I'll be there (in Partenen). You show it from a very nice angle with the "Zamangspitze" in the background. It's astonishing how you could hide the nearby village. A really beautiful picture and note as well!
Greetings from sunny and very dry Germany - and have a nice Sunday!

George,
If you are not in the postcard or picture puzzel business then I think you have missed a great opportunity. This is another perfect or nearly so photogtaph. From the dandelions in the fg to the clouds in the bg everything ties together and adds to the overall. Great capture.

Hi George,
This is a sweet scenery, so typical for Austria. I like the composition and colours, but I prefer higher sharpness, so I tried a workshop.
Thanks,

Hi George,
You are really lucky to be travelling to all these beautiful places one after another. Excellent POV, love the way you have framed the chapel on top of the grassy slope. That tree beside the chapel seems to complement it in every way.

Little and with a beautiful surrounding. Excellent shot with the subject well placed atop the mound. The different shades of green and the blue mountains on the back create a nice contrast and blend of shades. Thanks George.

Hi George
Pretty stereotype of this small typically Austrian vault like I have of it the memory at the time of my passage in this country. Camped well on this headland, I suppose that it dominates a village that one guesses on the other pouring. Good work - thank you for sharing.

Again found this one in your Austria gallery Mr Rumpler. As you see, i cannot forget those beautiful places with nice buildings rising in refreshing nature. The diffrerent colors of the trees, placing of the church in the composition and the small hill on which the church is standing look really beauitful with your touch. Excellent light and quality supporting my nice memoirs. TFS,
Deniz
