Shkoder Castle View, a photo from Shkoder, North

Photographer's Note

A view looking west back towards part of the north Albanian town of Shkoder, taken from the citadel known also as Rozafa Castle. Some thunderstorms were brewing on the horizon, but I made it back to town in time to avoid the rain.

Hello Chris,
On my first very brief visit to Shkoder in 2004 the entire city, and especially this area, looked so rundown that I didn't bother to see this castle. Five years later Shkoder, and the entire country, had seen such a remarkable makeover that walking to Rozafa was perfectly safe and in fact quite a pleasure. I remember this view well, but I think there are some buildings that didn't exist in 2009. The colours are great and I like the inclusion of a part of the old wall.

Pleasant colours too, but yet a contrast through through the old wall in foreground.

Hi Chris,
beautiful panoramic view from the fortress. The fortification elements add a nice touch in the foreground explaining the point of view. Great colors of vegetation and the town with the mountains on the horizon.

a nice use of the structures of the castle in FG while we have a mountain in the far Fg and the city too. the walls don't look so practical for defense..
