Where the women were, a photo from Pogradec, South

Photographer's Note

My last picture, called "The women were somewhere else", showed a lot of Albanian men gathered in a park with no women around. This photo indicates what the women were doing. Actually, it's not quite true, since there actually were women in another part of the same park. And also, this is from another town in another part of the country on another day. I still show it to give an idea of some differences of life between men and women, by no means just in Albania.
This is from Pogradec in the eastern part of Albania, just a few kilometres from the border with Macedonia. I guess I just liked the colours.

Hej Gert,
A fine follow-up to your previous picture. The women here are actually doing something and they also provide better colours. Makes me think of my own uploads "Working Girl" and "Working Men". But this picture is really much better than mine, of "working" men.

Nice and educative capture from Albania !
Very good layout and nice bright colors. Many hidden beauties. The only thin I miss in this scenery is a bunch of red paprika's, hung on the wall, to dry up !

Hello Gert,

You're capturing this daily life shot by a good composition and excellent tone, so it's always interesting to see daily life of other countries for me. It's impressive in spectacle that has hung out washing and ones that women have gathered in purchase as for clothes.

Men pass the time. They sit around, drink tea, play chess or something else. In the household men traditionally have done nothing - that is women's work. Women are housewives. Women will not be disturbed by the men. Women make sure that this remains so. Would help the man in the household who would ridicule from other women. But with the emancipation has changed so much. Everything is just a matter of time.
The vivid and realistic photo pleases me very well.

Haha, funny, another town in another part of the country on another day. But still the same country :). I was sure the women were somewhere rather working than wasting time in park. What exactly they are doing? Nice colours indeed.

I like the snapshot with all these women to try to choose cloths from the stack,with the colours to are original ones.

An eye catching composition and a lovely street scene, it appears almost like a family affair and plenty to keep the eye busy but the red draws the eyes in. Quite cheerful looking spot, a very lively buy and sell taking place, vibrant and full of energy where women are best at. I find this dwelling has its own character, with a nice rustic feel full of charm look to it although somewhat looks a bit rundown. This makes a very interesting capture in particular I love the ambient and the feel of oldie atmosphere, no less absorbing, of this street shot. Another good doc picture, Congrats

Hi Gert,
There there is a view I have not seen before!! There are two things I cannot but notice in this photo. One, the plants, I find in Albania they are always sowing new ones but they never seem to grow and thus they sow them again! Clearly sowing is not enought to make a plant grow!

Second, I love socks on the washing line, they are so perfectly lined up so that if I were you I would have probably good really close to them.

As for the ladies working the men playing chess, well my guess is that if these ladies were given the option to play chess instead they would have not taken it!
