Inspired by the legendary Tall Ship, Preussen, the 134 metre Royal Clipper has the proud distinction of being the largest and only five-masted sailing ship built since her predecessor was launched at the beginning of the last century. Her complement of 42 sails, totals 5000 Square meters of sail area.

You might think she was an apparition from the grand age of sail, but Royal Clipper is as new as tomorrow, boasting state-of-the-art navigation systems and all the comfort of today. The boat offers the ultimate sea-going experience, balancing the grandeur, adventure and tradition of sailing with the superb service, amenities and accommodations of the finest modern yacht. Royal Clipper carries just 227 guests in luxurious style. The boat is based in Luxemburg, so Euros are the currency of the boat. About 2/3 0f the passengers were from Europe with most being from France & Germany. The food was better than any Ive had on a cruise, there was open seating in the dining room with the evening meal stretching for 2 hours while guests voiced their preference for a table where French, English or German would be spoken.

Ive been on many boats that were sold as sailing trips but this boat sailed more than any of them. Its a real joy when the sails fill and the boat moves smoothly and strongly through the waves with none of that bobbling motion of motor power. On this cruise of the Grenadine Islands in the southern Caribbean, we snorkeled or dived every day and small boats were available for sailing from the beach. Source
