Smoking Granny, a photo from Thua Thien-Hue, North Central Coast

Photographer's Note

The image of the "Smoking Granny" was taken while I was strolling the streets of Hue in central Vietnam. I snapped two photos of her, her head was hidden by the conical hat on the first but she lifted her head just enough for me to capture this image. I don't condone smoking, but it sure does add to the atmosphere of a photo. ;-)

Well done. The use of negative space works nicely in this centered image.
The smoke really does add to the scene.
I really like the details here. Do you suppose the f-stop you chose was the reason for the clarity?

I love the way you got all that smoke around her and all the precision on her face. Good shot, very moody, perhaps croped verticaly would have been another solution.

oooooohh.......today it's 19 days since I stopped smoking :O)

Good view of this old smoking woman. Well timed with the cigarette in the mouth and the smoke all over. I think a lower angle would have made it an even better shot....hmm.
