Silk Road travels from Toshkent to Kashgar: Samarqand

The inner gold leaved decoration of the Tillya Kari mosque (17th century) is one of the architectural marvels in Samarqand. As you can see here (I know I said this before on TE, sorry), the architects of the time perfectly mastered the transition from a square building to a circular cupola by octo- and decahexagonal transitions.

Uuhggh, I have already presented a picture of the same mosque made during an earlier trip (see here).


To take the picture I had the camera lying on the floor in the middle of the room. I used the self-timer, no flash, 1 sec speed. In a workshop version I removed some of the glare in PS. See what's better. Enjoy!
