Leggy wader, a photo from Phattalung, South

Photographer's Note

This morning I looked again at my archive and this extremely long legged wader which was looking for food such as insects and crustaceans in the Thale Noi wetlands. They are easy to overlook, because they are less then 40 cm high. Moreover the stills are a bit shy, so you cannot go near to them. When they feel threatened they will fly away.

Good picture of the bird in search of its food..well positioned and framed. could have been better with details and sharpness (IMHO).

The tall red legs are a definite eye-catcher here, taking the eyes directly toward the bird. Fine nature photography.

Now that is a nice pair of legs, it looks as the bird is walking on stilts. I am sure he can be quite fast on those legs and are a great advantage for hunting. Is this a young one to the right bottom of the frame or is it an other species?

It looks so weak with these thin legs, but it must be exactly what gives it the ability of hunting in the water without being noticed. Great capture, with excellent colors! Wonderful composition!
