Water lily dream, a photo from Phattalung, South

Photographer's Note

Lotus flowers and water lily flowers are covering the Thale Noi like a carpet, but which of the flower is which one, as they look very much the same. The biggest difference are their leaves: Lotus leaves are above the water level, while water Lily leaves float on the water surface.

This looks like a tasty flower soup, Urs :)

The water is a bit murky, but still a pleasant background color against which these flowers and leaves look radiant.

Beautiful composition ~ and thanks for helping us know the difference between lotus and lilly leaves :)

The water does look very murky but being a retired gardener I couldn`t let your picture go by without saying a word about the flowers.
They are so beautiful. Their colour is so vivid and you have composed them well.

Interesting note on the difference between the two that I was not aware of before. The bright red flowers sit well against the muddy waters and are nicely placed in the frame. I like the use of the vertical format to frame the blooms.

Your comment is interesting Urs, you explain quite simply the difference between water lily and lotus
It's said that both species participate to enrichment of water. Lotus is a popular pink flower in many asian cultures, the favorite one of a famous indian godess and of a famous prince as well

A bit of life and nature beauty in this polluted river its seems, this is a fine close up work nicely fill the frame as green and the fiery deep vibrant pink contrast strikingly against the muddy water and successfully attract the eyes.
