No Points for Good Mood Day, a photo from Kanchanaburi, Central

Photographer's Note

This is my contribution to Marianne’s 'Good Mood Day’. I haven’t got anything you could call ‘funny’, but who could fail to smile when looking at this little fellow.

We encountered this cheeky chappy in the Mon village when we were staying in the floating raft houses on the River Kwai. The Mon people originate from Burma (Myanmar) and the women are often recognised by their wearing of thanaka paste on their faces. Sometimes it is smeared on as an antiseptic and/or sunscreen, but more often it is applied in patterns.

I can imagine him watching his Mum getting ready and wanting some paste on too.

In the spirit of Good Mood Day please do not leave points.

I bet kids love face painting over there as much as in here. I wonder if they sometimes add colours too.
That blurry background looks so harmonous, it could be a studio set.
