Photographer's Note

Walking around the Thale Noi lake is not just looking at water lilies and lotus, but also birds. There are countless birds, but only few you see. Some are hard to overlook like the Eastern Great Egret in the picture looking for his breakfast. This 83-103 cm high bird weights 700-1200 grams. It certainly is a very proud bird nonetheless he keeps his distance from humans.

Hello Urs,
A very impressive creature whose pale tones contrast nicely with its surroundings. I like the slightly off-centre placement and the framing offered by the lush vegetation.

A fine study of this elegant bird at work. I like the composition with a diagonal marshy ground and in the foreground a green triangle with a red frame. The light is very good and the sharpness is perfect.
