A moment of rest..., a photo from Chiang Mai, North

Photographer's Note

I'll return to my theme of urban art but for now it's time to check my archives and see what I have there. I'm starting with Thailand. I took this photo in the famous temple of Doi Suthep, a hill situated a few kms far from Chiang Mai. This is probably the most famous temple of the city. I've been there twice and I always find lots of tourists. It probably dates from the 14th century but it has become much bigger and richly decorated since then. Besides the temple, the view over Chiang Mai is simply magnificent from there.
Last time I was there there were also several groups of children dancing in traditional clothes - as far as I remember they were trying to raise some money for charity purposes. I took this photo when they were resting a little between the dances.

Ola Adores, great portrait here, full of life and colours, the young girl is helping her friend, maybe she has something in her eye, you catch a very intimate moment between them

Hello Ana,

This is a sweet and adoring photo of these two young ladies. The garments are absolutely beautiful with the accent on red but the hair dressing is as I remember the Thais from many years ago. The one is being helpful to her friend ever so delicately. I even am amazed at the fine jewelry that they are wearing.

A touching human moment, made more so by your note explaining these young girls have their time to charity. Vibrant colors and a perfect crop. Even though there is great for like innocence to this, the girl applying the make up has the intense look of a trained professional. Great shot

I like very much this scene that gives us a glimpse of the "backstage", we get a fine description of the costumes and the jewellery and I like the candidness, as no one is posing. The two girls are elegant and their hairstyles, too, show they are dressed for a very special occasion. Your photo has superb sharpness and an effective, suggestive background. What a wonderful and intimate moment you have captured here. Far from the tourist crowds one friend is helping an other (does she has something in her eyes I wonder) and the dresses are simply beautiful.
I remember Doi Suthep quite well, but even more interesting where the small villages in the hills and woods nearby.

A charming candid precisely timed before they restart the performance as this looks so natural fully unaware of your camera and totally engrossed in the proceeding. They are very cute girls with their outstanding make up, striking costumes and hair do! Excellent sharpness and their purple dresses remind me of Thai purple orchids. Good saturation and framing. Nice use of a shallow dof to throw the bg oof. Several times I have been to the riverside Restaurant in Chiang Mai. The food there is great. Thanks for the memories.

for obvious reasons the pink colors stand out and catch our attention, lovely, cute, and cultural.

glad to be back home after a month in India :)
