In Prayer, a photo from Dushanbe, West

Photographer's Note

During my stay in Dushanbe (capital of Tajikistan) I took a day trip to Hisor famous for its fortress. The fortress stands on a hill commanding the valley between two mountain ranges. These days, the site is occupied by a newly-built fortress, meant to evoke an 18th-century fortress destroyed by the Red Army when they conquered Tajikistan. Although the Tajik government's restoration has brought the fortress back to life, it's unclear in how far this new structure actually resembles the original.

During walking through the fortress I met this an old Muslim man during his daily prayer on the rosary beats.

Hello Zbigniew,

I like this discrete portrait. The old gentleman is completely lost in his prayers, unaware of you or your camera.
I like where you have positioned yourself, so the man is well positioned, slightly off-centre, with the steps acting as guides towards him.
His gaze leads us down his body to the beads, and his bare feet.
It is well composed and exposed photograph.

Czesc Zbyszek, Sympatyczna scenka z Duszanbe (czy raczej okolic, jak czytam). Ciekawy widok tego starszego Tadżyka z rуżańcem. Świetna kompozycja. Z bywszych republik nie byłam w Tadzykistanie, Turkmenistanie i Kazachstanie. Czy będe jeszcze mogła je odwiedzić?
