Photographer's Note

During a recent visit to Moscow, friends took me to this interesting sculpture park outside the New Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val. This is a fascinating place because statues of former Soviet leaders are displayed nearby memorial to their victims: as Philip Marriott from The Moscow News puts it: "From officially sanctioned regime art to that which commemorates its excesses". Recently I posted a view of three statues of Lenin. The present photograph shows a collection of stone heads held behind barbed wire and bars. A strong and disturbing image.
