Photographer's Note
--- This is "Stalin & Monroe", a canvas created in 1991 by Leonid Sokov in the first years of the independent Russia after communism. Can you imagine what Stalin would do with the painter if he had seen this in 1950 ?
--- One of the characteristics of a religious orthodox icon is having a golden BG, some branches of flower can be used too. This is the reason the artist used this here. Of course you will be able to recognize two of the most famous "human icons" of Rússia and USA here, anyone was great at his-her way.
--- Stalin had his famous mustache removed, but he is smiling to Marylin Monroe, a clear scene of a flirt.
--- Stalin had many women in his life, but he hated his mother very much because she obligated him to be a monk and even when she died he wasn't present at her funeral. One of his wives killed by her self, other loved him secretly, taking care of him for decades, and the others hadn't a so happy life. In fact, he wasn't able to deal with feelings and his nickname says much about him "The man of steel".
For another hand Marylin never was lucky with the men she found in her life, so strong visually and so fragile inside, and she ended as one of the wives of Stalin..
In the gallery there was a very funny painting, like a cartoon, where the famous scene of Marylin in the anniversary of Kennedy was recreated in a Russian way.
...............

Hello Jorge,
Funny. It was also in this museum? This painting reminds me very popular Polish verse ( translation by Google)
Long live us comrade Stalin
He has a sweeter mouth than raspberries
Long live us the Red Army
Rearmed by allies.
Have you visited Izmailovo and Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy? Have you seen the famous sculpture Worker and Kolkhoz Woman? They are great :)
Stay safe

Hello Jorge,
After I had seen this interesting photo and read your interesting text, I wondered how Putin would react if such a painting was made of him and let's say Scarlett Johansson. I'm not sure he will be pleased.
Excellent presentation
Have a nice Sunday, Groet Rob

Hello Jorge,
An amusing "icon". Stalin's moustache looks funny because it has the same colour as the background.

Hi Jorge,
This is probably a sarcastic painting of Stalin. The point of view is showing the details of the painting with Staklin and Marylin Monroe. It is clear and sharp. Have a nice day.

Hello Jorge,
This makes us smile because of the unlikely pairing but I doubt that either of these would be pleased by the close association!
The artist was having even more fun by painting this like a religious icon!
This reminds me of satirical cartoons, placed regularly in satirical magazines!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jorge,
A very interesting work of art, clearly made after the fall of the Soviet Union. It really offers a very nice commentary on the events of the Cold War. Well captured and the colours are very attractive.

Hello Jorge,
Very funny!
Did you see any paintings of Putin in Russia? You can find them in Ukraine but I don't think the Russians will like them.
Did Stalin ever become a monk?
Best regards, Paul
