Photographer's Note
I was on the first expedition into Rowaling in the Himalaya, just after the area had been opened up by the Nepalese authorities. In a small riverside hamlet I came across a hut and inside was this little boy preparing some pots of food. His hands look rather large due to the 20 mm lens I was using.

great shot. and I must say that the exaggerated hands go very well with the story, after all the boy uses his HANDS to work and, I assume, earn his living. I like the light, I like the colours, I like the composition. if I was in mood for nit-picking I'd say the photo is a bit noisy, but I'm not :)

Hi Christopher,
Fascinating portrait of this young nepalese boy!
I like so much the colour palette used here, and the atmosphere created.
The low light makes a very intimate moment here.
Great the rudimentary kitchen details seen at the back, with the wood burning to prepare the food.
Very nice the kind expression on the kid's face.
I like very much the compostion made with all this elements.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Highest world class photography there is.
Every possible pixel of it.
Flawless finishing. Stunning content.
Final presentation beyond compare.
One per one thousand like this one on TE... If you lucky !

Moving portrait, Chris. First we see the smile, on an endearing dirty little face (from the coal, most likely), and then the pin holding the clothes...And like I said, I am really moved, so no more words, except thanks.

La photo n'est pas récente....mais elle est splendide. La composition est parfaite, les tons de l'image exceptionnels et l'enfant a une "bouille" extraordinaire.Du grand art!

Hi Christoper, Great portrait. A winner for sure. You have captured the personality of this young man with this picture. Hats off to you. You have a pretty sharp shot for shooting at 1/8 of a second unless you used a tripod. BTW I have a Nikon F and a Leica IIIg also. Four lenses for each and haven't looked at them for 20 years.

Hi, Christopher,
May I change my mind?? I have compared the original to my workshop again and again. At first I liked the smoothness, but it doesn't suit. Again and again I am drawn to the grittiness, the realness of the original. My sincere apologies for screwing with what was already great. In large respect,
Shelly

Splendid portrait! Cheerful face of little worker, his silhouette, monochromatic colours of the background..
Splendid observation and composition..
Your shot provide with so many thoughts about a dificult life of children raised in a poor conditions..
but his smile.. it wins everything!
Bravo! Agnieszka

Hi Christopher,
A very good portrait of this boy. I like how you included what the boy was doing. The smile and the expression of his eyes is beautiful.
The available light is well used and the colors are very good.
Very well done on this daily life scene!

Bonjour, Christopher.

Indeed a marvellous photo, his smile, his hands and his workingplace, already happy with the little attention he got for once, others even never get this chance, what are we spoiled on TE.

Hi Christopher,
A great environmental portrait of this sweet little boy. I particularly like the exaggerated hands as they emphasise the fact that he is a working child. Great lighting and composition.
Kind regards, Michele
