Photographer's Note

This early morning scene - a very common sight on the streets of Kathmandu - was actually caught my attention in the first place after scouring the cityscape - precisely in busy Asan Tol looking for all sorts of unusual angles, people and things to shoot leaving no stone unturned. I was very much attracted from afar by the vendor's catchy red that I liked so much, neat and clean appearance sitting all alone, merely being part of the setting there. Thought her pose and attitude was just great and although I was standing in front of her, I was not sure whether she was looking at me as her mind seemed to be just drifting away.

Anyway, managed to trigger the shutter for quick burst of shots without any hassle and nothing fancy I guessed, but must say that I had mixed feelings about them. Naturally, I looked up, smiled and gestured to the woman ... got a big smile back, the kind of heartwarming friendly smile that never worked on pixels. I love the general ambiance putting the subject in context, the feeling of loneliness and inner isolation.

The world is fast becoming over populated but at times it can be so lonely!!!!
