Photographer's Note
In a small group of earthen house with thatched roofs high in the Himalayas, I celebrated Dassain twice. It is the grandest festival of the year. Everyone hopes to have goat meat and new clothes. A small relative of my friend stand in the doorway. No one spoke English except my friend, (and she knows no much English). The hospitality was wonderful, the friendly people kind, and generous.
Western nations have many things they never even heard of, or cannot believe is true, (amusement parks, 24 hour electricity, hot water, heat in winter are some). They have respect for nature, love of family, freinds, and thankfulness for the small pleasures in life. This little girl has many relatives who will hold her, hug her, and amuse her daily. Grandparents are important, and dote on grand children.

Hi Gloria,
