Monk of Shwedagon Paya:

Monks are very present in Burma and there are about half a million of them in a country of 50 million people. With close to ninety percent adhering to Theravada Bhuddism, it is not surprising to come across monks on a very regular basis here. They are hard to miss in their brightly coloured maroon robes, very photogenic and you can see them everywhere adding a bit of exotic & colour of the place.

They are also as much a part of the experience of being in this country as the famed Shwedagon Paya.

Looking bored or a little wistful perhaps......
