Photographer's Note
For chinese tradition devotees uses joss stick for prayers. Traditional Joss sticks are made of special woods. One of the famous fragrant wood used is known as "TAN HIONG". Besides that joss sticks also comes in different size and pattern as well.
The joss sticks capture in this picture is circular in shape. The devotees puts their name and date of birth in the middle of the joss stick as it starts burning from the end.
Nowadays joss sticks has evolved into a new culture. A culture we name it as "Aromatheraphy". For example with the essense of Lavender it meant to keep one relax and helps release stress. That really means the manufacturer of joss sticks besides getting their profit from religious sector in the old days, now they are making extra profit from everyone disregards of your religion.

Adam,
The patterns formed by the incense smoke are really beautiful, and a little bit creepy even. They are like lost souls or spirits floating through the temple!

The focus makes this photo. The contrasting colors, the yellow incense on the smokey blue black background are great too. Awesome work.
