Photographer's Note
Lanterns at Kasuga Taisha in Nara Park. One of several different styles. From Wikitravel:
"Kasuga Taisha (春日大社), 春日野町160, ☎ +81 0742-22-7788, [7]. Worth a visit for the beautiful approach, through the Kasuga-yama Primeval Forest (see below), more than the temple itself. What Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Taisha is for torii, Kasuga Taisha is for stone lanterns. Notice the giant rack of sake barrels near the front gate and the fountain-statue of a giant buck. The temple is occasionally closed for services, but a walk around the outside is likely to be no less rewarding. Grounds free, inside of shrine ¥500, treasure hall ¥400. "
I've already uploaded a shot of the stone lanterns.

Hello Chris,
Quite an unusual shot for you, I think, but no less interesting. I like the close up of the lanterns showing the gilding and the decoration, and the angled approach makes a natural lead. Gold and red always give the impression of graneur.
It wouls be interesting to get a scale comparison as they appear quite large.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris
a beautifully detailed and delightful composition. The combination of colours and elements here make this work so attractively as does the subtle light on the golden lanterns. An elegant and graceful presentation.
Have an enjoyable weekend - warm wishes - Brian.

Hi Chris,
The subject is well framed. The point of view is allowing me to distinguish the details and colors of the lanterns. It is clear and sharp. The afternoon light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Chris.
I must admit, at first I thought these lanterns were standing on the stone floor; but then something seemed not quite right! A beautiful array which combines well with the red tones. I agree with Bev, it's not a characteristic sort of shot for you, but it works very well, and even the thumbnail fixes the gaze.

Andrew

Hello Chris,
All these lanterns are artworks, I think all handicraft made.
I like here the gold color amazing.
This gives depth and perspective.
Sharpness and clarity are pleasant.
very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
John.
