Photographer's Note
I rarely go to touristics performances; this one is the sunday gamelan and classical dance in sultan's kraton of Yogjakarta.
I cannot prevent myself, if I am in this city to go again look at this; but I rather like the "envers du décor" in french; not the performance itself.
It's why , I suppose, one of the women said to me (you cannot see her on this picture):
"I don't understand what you are doing, what is beautiful is dance...."
So I took this shot just after the coming back of the blurred man who is drinking some water with pipe; the two women have already dance and chat while observing me in the same time; and behind the window another woman of the security service of the kraton fight against boring looking at me too.
May be she also di his job: taking care...

I agree - I really like the use of DOF here - there is so much to see as we look across the frame - colour, posture, emotion. form and then we come to that wonderful animated look - beautifully capturing her beauty beyond form.
really very nice Joel!
best wishes Kev

Excellent travail!

Good for you to look the in the other direction. This is a very interesting shot, great compo. I have been experimenting with out-of-focus people in the foreground too (although I haven't posted any of the results on TE so far) and I think you've achieved a very good result here. The security woman in the back is a big plus in this picture. Well done!

Bonjour Joel,
Another shot well captured. The usual play with the blurred foreground and a good description of the environment that allows us to fully understand the atmosphere of the shots. I love it Joel! That is a really good share of your experiences. Merci,
All the best,
Ricardo

That was probably the most interesting that happend to the security-woman that day :-)
The woman to the right is really beautiful - and I like the fact that she is looking at you. And an other thing I like is all the details.......great scene.

The DOF is just Right, bringing the boring look just enough as a backdrop against the lively dancers, Wih the man giving a kind of mysterious bending down as a respect to the ladies?!...
What I like & try to learn from you is the the technology merging with your sense of story telling to weave tale...
Thanks,
Prem.
