Gunung Bromo, a photo from Jawa Timur, Java

Photographer's Note

Another picture from our visit to Mt. Bromo at Feburary 2011.
Mount Bromo (Indonesian: Gunung Bromo) - an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia, 2.329 metres high.
Because of present activity of the volcano is access to the volcano closed and the path and steps leading to the verge of crater are not accessible. For more details see my previous photos and comment from our adventurous trip to the volcano. But, as You can see at present picture, people are living everywhere, even very close to volcano, despite of life threatening peril.

Hi Jiri, I see Bromo was angry that day! Much more amenable on my visit in 2000.
I really like this not often seen aspect, most pictures (including mine are taken from the tourists viewing platform and I did walk up as well (maybe not such a good idea on your day!).
Great foreground interest with the farmers hut and the green shoots of new life contrasts nicely with the barren volcanic valley.

Hi Jiri. Here you show a remarkably good photograph. The Indonesian landscape with the Gunung Bromo is impressive. Herausquillende the smoke from the volcano is dramatic. Best composition and wonderful colors. Foreground and background are skillfully combined. My compliments for this excellent photo. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Hi Jiri,

Among your Gunung Bromo pictures, I liked this one the most mainly because of the contrasting aspects of the elements in the photo. I liked the vertical framing, where you have shown the barren volcanic region and in close proximity to a farm land highlighting greenary. Its pretty alarming for the fact that people live so close to the volcano.
