Fishing waves, a photo from Goa, West

Photographer's Note

It's like a morning cerimony
on the ocean shores
the coming back
of the fishermen
from the lines of the horizon.
It's so peaceful
to walk along the shore
breathing the pure morning air.

This is my last picture I post
before leaving for my trip to Tanzania.
I will be back at the end of September.

Excellent shot with the colours superb. I like the sharp effect on the fisherman and waves with the birds being soft then gradually getting shaper. Beautiful shot, very well seen and captured. Have a good trip.

great atmosphere you've captured here. The light is very peculiar. There seem to be a weird loss in quality in the sky though, is it just me or what?

Excellent composition with a perfect focus. I love the birds scattered on the beach, the soft tones of colors and the foamy waves. The presence of the man, with his fish net, standing in the middle, like if he was trying to bring back a whale in the water, is powerfully poetic, and the mood of your pic is magical. Congratulations, Luca! And good trip to Tanzania!

Ciao Luca, bello los fumato in primo piano, tutto luce e colore ed eccezionale la resa delle onde e della nebbiolina che emanano, ma il punto forte di questa foto и davvero il pescatore, cosм definito, ma in silhouette, che sembra tirare a sй il mare!
Il grafismo degli uceelli, neri sulla sabbia bagnata и il tocco dell'artista.
Bravo davvero!

Hello Luca,
The image has wonderful depth to it, and the mono tones works very well with the compsosition. It's just the lone fisherman challenging the elements so that he can eat and make a living. You've focussed in on the man and have blurred the foreground, which forces one's eyes to move to the fisherman. Very well done.

Apart frm the b'ful, nicely-lit seascape, what is striking here for me is the innovative use of DOF!! (at least for me...)

And DOF also could be of no much importance if the birds were not there....

I'm new to photography and I know what I would've thought on seeing that scene- click everything- sea, waves, birds and sand!!! I adore how you sacrificed on the details in FG while taking ur shot to another dimension. Cheers for ur courage and thanks for teaching me a new lesson in art.

Hi Luca,

what a dramatic feel in the composition, the portrait orientation works so well in the shot and the foreground with the receeding waters and the birds sets such a great scene for the rest of the composition elements.

Dissento sull'inserire i volatili fuori fuoco, che oltretutto distolgono l'attenzione dal pescatore e dalle onde, che sono i motivi piu' interessanti dello scatto.

How wonderful! The power of film for sure. The bokeh seems always better and starts earlier with film is my feeling. Though that might also just be a feeling in itself and not true.

Extremely beautiful and well made. Love the DOF, love the general cast and of course the theme of the photo.
The most outstanding feature are the birds, surprizingly numerous in such a rough and wavy environment.

Hi, Luca. The fisherman is well underlined by the bokehs in the bottom and top of the image. I like the contrast between the gulls wandering quietly on the beach and the raging waves. The soft colours make the scene look like a Japanese print.
