Photographer's Note

It looks calm and scenic and it is.

Only thing was that the clarity deceives the eye..the distance to the base of the hills from where I am standing is 9 kilometres and the temperature is minus 10 !

But it is a beautiful plain - the Morey - a finger of the Tibetan Plateau in India!52 kilometres long and 9 kilometres wide it is a great pasture for the nomads...and a sometime resting halt for people journeying through from Manali on the way to leh.

The altitude is 4500 mtrs and oxygen levels as winter draws near are 30 percent of those at sea level. The smoke is from diesel vehicles attempting to start with diesel thickening like wax in the cold!

Clear, clean and tranquil...this is India too!
