Beautiful B&W picture, this a great portrait of these 3 women. It looks like an old photograph.
I love it, the generations is represented here I think...

As you know I like the number 3, Sohrab. 3 girls and also the 3 summits of the triangle shapes they form.
The brilliant thing in here is that they're so stiff they echo the brick pattern on top of them.
Even though this is scanned from a contact sheet (I suppose) the warm tone you gave (and also a minimal DoF provides a good quality, almost medium format feel.

what an amazingly dark and moody photo. These look very old to me but I like that about them. They are great "raw" black and white photography. Who cares about sharpness when you can capture mood so incredibly. Nice. JP

such a strong photograph with those 3 women and the one in the middle has such an intense look in her eyes, it's incredible. it works very well in black and white.

Another powerfl image, Sohrab. This could have been taken a hundred years ago. The light and the constrast are amazing, as are their separate personalities expressed through their looks.
I am developing a new respect for your portrait photographs too.

Hi, Sohra, the texture is helping convey the social context, as well as the strong, and beautiful, stare of the lady in the middle, their positionning is apt though their stiffness accentuates the "posing for a shot" side of it. here's my point: no rules against subject posing, but given you are making it a social pix, this type of shot makes your presence important (if unseen) in the shot. It becomes a comment on you as well. Was it the idea?
within the same point, why the towering over them?
question, questions.... :-)
Nice to see you posting again. Your individuality and "voice" was missed.

looks like a timeless one again. So what do we care for these sharp lenses... But not everybody has your talent Sohrab....
Like very much this one also. the look of the older si especially impressive, ghostly like.
amicalement, michel.

Wonderful faces in a well put together photo. I am not sure I like the gaze of the women on the right though. It takes away from the severe look of the one in the middle. The face hidden in the hood is wonderful. Perhaps a slight tilt to put the head of the girl on the right more into the corner of the photo might help.

What a terrible look and brilliant shot. I love the intense dark eyes, the intense dark grain of the picture. Fantastic mood as always Sohrab !

Hi sohrab,
this is a master piece or i have to change my glasses ?
the little girl on the middle really magnetized me !
i like in some of your picture ,how one people looks at you ,and this look is the entrance of the picture.
this one is so good that i cannot find the exit :)
IMO the old time style is not a + on this pic.
my favorite picture from you, old friend.

A killer, Sohrab. I simply don't know what to say. More powerful than anything I've seen in a long time. You won't believe me when I say this is a kind of masterpiece, but it really is. The women's gazes and the brick background for me add a beautiful intensity to the shot. Get ready to get punched :)

The way you captured these brave women, they are like haunted ghosts from another world. Powerful grainy stiff, Sohrab. Like many at TE I am thrilled that you are posting again, man. Sincerely, Francis in Tokyo.

A very powerful photo this one, really good. The girls stare is so intense, but why is she so pale?

Nice one Sohrab - reminds me of those ethnographic booklets on different tribal groups produced in the sixties/seventies - a very good contemporary historic photograph - in some places the change is still marginal in others profound - I get a little fed up with hearing about middle class India where I live (which is very Gujarati orientated), as if the adivasi (or even the bulk of the rural population) don't exist!
I suppose for many people they don't!
best wishes Kev

one photo, three generations :) great photo, very dark-side one... very "heavy" but great!
Just think you've had some problems with the scann... i see some green vertical lines, or maybe it's just my screen

Although I like the two on the left, the one on the right detracts from the impact. I see I am in the minority, but just the way I feel. I also don't like the heads being in the middle of the frame plane - makes me uneasy, and the wall detail isn't so attractive to look at. I tried a crop WS to suit my needs (how selfish!).
Good to see you back.
