Photographer's Note

Life in a village can be tough...irrespective of gender or age, caste or creed. Water, a precious commodity will have to be collected and stored for the day early in the morning. Though water will be plenty in the villages, people use it carefully. The village where I stayed in Dindugal was lucky to have all the proper facilites as the local MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) was from that place and he made sure that his village is properly looked after...! It is very encouraging to see that villges in India are slowly getting more and more facilities like water and electricity.
This old woman, even though she is a widow (see her white dress...?), does her share of job in the house. The elders in the village, who form an important part of the Indian family, do not take rest by choice and still contribute to the work in the house and are respected and adored.
