Photographer's Note
We were going from Osiyan to Jaisalmer, through the Thar desert, when we saw the roadworks. The view of the women working so hard in blazing sun, dressed in colourful saris, was amazing. I made this photo from a moving car. I wished we could stop and had a closer look. In order to reduce the speed of the car, they put some heaps of stones on the road. Our driver was not careful enough and the tyre was flat. I was glad that my wish was fulfilled :). We had to stop and I could make some shots of the women having break. We also could have "family photos" with them, see WS.
I know that sky is noisy but I find the scene interesting.

Hello Malgorzata,
The brilliant colours of the dresses of the women make us almost forget the very hard life of these road workers.
But the picture is an excellent testimony of the difficult conditions in which some people work.
It's one of the most colourful images that anyone can make about the daily life anywhere.
The composition is very good with the women arriving at one side from over the hill and leave at the other end.
I see that one woman helps the man to cut off the dry ground. On the other hand I don't really know which of both tasks is the hardest.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgorzata,
A sight we are certainly not used to in Western Europe. A well presented documentary image with good colours and sharpness.

Bonjour Malgorzata,
Quand on n'a pas de tracteurs sous la main, c'est toujours utile d'utiliser les têtes de ces belles dames pour transporter la terre. Les couleurs de leurs vêtements sont magnifiques, mais ou sont les hommes.
Bon dimanche

Hello Malgorzata,
The women form a great, colourful semicircle around the man in white. The diagonal line of the hillside also plays a part for the composition. I find it just slightly overexposed, visible mainly in the man's clothes, but it's such a good picture that it doesn't really matter. The workshops are very interesting too.
No further comments :-)
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo
thank goodness for the flat tire eh!
yes you're right, the scene is a great one, and one that should be captured.
I like how the people are spread all about the frame, not just in one locations. The blazing hot sun made for a difficult exposure, but again, its the people and colors that steal the show.
nice one
enjoy your day
Cheers

Hi Malgo,
This, and your workshop pictures, are wonderful captures of life in India. It really is amazing that these women carry out this heavy work - and all in such beautiful elegant and colourful clothes! What are the men all doing while these ladies toil away?
This picture is perhaps just a little overexposed but the other two workshop pictures are perfect. A great comment on life in India.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Malgorzata, Color color color. I really enjoy seeing these people in their vivid clothing. Red seems to dominate but yellows and blues also appear. It is a pity to see that women have to do this type of work, but other lands, other customs. I am guessing that the person in the center might be a man, but who knows. Not easy to see any faces as they are turned away for the most part. Geez, I cannot imagine riding along in a bus in the middle of nowhere. But good for you. You are getting some great shots. Warm Regards, Roger.

Encore une superbe scène de vie au Rajasthan très colorée et très intéressante. La composition est excellente mais je trouve l'image un peu trop claire (sur mon écran!)
