Photographer's Note

This magnificent step-well ("Baori" in local language) named "Chand (Moon) Baori" was built by rulars of this small town "Abha Nagari" (now called Abhaneri) during 8th-9th century. It means that it is almost 1300 years old now - probably one of the oldest step-wells in such a good shape.

Almost 20 meters deep, this step-well is sqaure on plan - with multi-storeyed pillared verandahs (pavillion ) with entrance on the north. It has double flight of steps - with 13 levels - on the remaining three sides - south, east and west.

great composition and close POV for this optical capture! I like the light balance, with the little over-exposure underlining the graphic effect of the steps, wonderful choice of including the small boy, giving proportion and life to this graphical composition. maybe I would have increased a little the contrast value to enhance the graphical effect and the brown color of steps contrasting with the blue shirt of the boy.

I wish I could have seen this photo two years ago, before I planned my trip to India. Amazing place, I like it a lot.
Very special optial effect, like those drawings from Escher.
I like the cropping here and teh POV. Maybe the contrast could be better.
