The Trio, a photo from Uttarakhand, North

Photographer's Note

It was a chilly Christmas morning, and the little known hamlet of Chaukori, in Uttarakhand was still sleepy. Fearing that I would miss the sunrise, I was long awake, and ultimately decided to venture out. More than the cold, what made me shiver was the crimson tint of the far off horizon. The chilly wind tried its best to prevent me from being all the more with the raw nature around. The only living species awake was a dog, whose bark seemed like the scream of a demon amaidst paradise. I walked upto a small hillock which would offer me the best possible view of the Kumaon Himalayas.....three...two...one...and it was there. The sun kissed the top of Nanda Devi, and a stream of gold cascaded on both its ridges, reaching upto Pnawali Dwar on its left and Nanda Devi East to its left. A heavenly sight unfolded, and I stood there spellbound, awestruck and speechless.......
The peaks seen here are the pointed peak Panwali Dwar (6663 metres) on the left of the screen , the dome shaped Nanda Devi (7816 metres) in the middle, and Nanda Devi East (7434 metres) on the right.

Hi Sagarneel,

Well composed, beautiful sunrise color and wonderful mountains! The shadow of the front draws out a good effect for the whole as well as cloud in upper right.

great, really great capture of this trio. Nice light at top of mountains. The cloud is nicely coloured also by the morning sun. Black foreground mountains added adequate contrast to it. Heavenly perspective. Thanks for sharing.

Ari baps Sagar...tumi Chaukori mere dile? Amar khub shokh chhilo jaoar, hothat transfer hoate shob mathe mara gelo...I dreamt of seeing the Kumaon range from behind the hotel or the old tea factory...a scene as heavenly as this. I would like to see a shot which you might have taken from your hotel as well, a bit wider one
