Photographer's Note

Hello my dear friends,

I shot this beautiful historic architecture at the first week of March, 2013 when I visited Agra and its adjacent places. I already posted Sikandra and that was its backside view but this is front view of Sikandra.

The third Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great, himself commenced its construction in around 1600, according to Tartary tradition to commence the construction of one's tomb during one's lifetime. Sikandra is the mausoleum of Akbar. Akbar himself started construction of this beautiful monument. This structure has a perfect blending of Hindu, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Jain themes. Sikandra is named after Sikandar lodi, the Delhi ruler who was in power from 1488 to 1517.

Akbar was the greatest of the Mughal emperors and one of the most secular minded royalties of his time. He was the heir to a long tradition of oriental refinement, a great patron of the arts, literature, philosophy and science. A visit to Akbar's monument opens before one, the completeness of Akbar's personality as completely as the Taj Mahal does of Mumtaz Mahal's. Akbar himself planned his own tomb and selected a suitable site for it. To construct a tomb in one's lifetime was a Tartary custom, which the Mughals followed religiously. Akbar's son Jahangir completed the construction of this pyramidal tomb in 1613.

I got an opportunity to shoot and visit this famous historical place.

An excelent vierw to a full wide span of the mausoleum, beautiful red/brown tone and fine archi.details shown.

Hello Swapan,

The tradition of building ones own mausoleum seems to follow on from a tradition that began long ago with the Egyptian pharaohs.
This is a beautiful building, perfectly symmetrical, nicely emphasised by your composition. The light was glorious and you have used it well, giving excellent, sharpness to the scene.

Hi Swapan,
Another fine example of where central symettrical composition works perfectly, this fine old building looks really beuatiful I this view I am always a fan of red architecture on blue sky, this this really appeals to me, and the framing you have created with the trees makes a bonus color contrast and creates depth. Really nice image.
One question if I may, did you correct distortion on this by any chance? It may be my eyes, but it seems that the building is leaning out a little at the top. I do this sometimes when I correct distortion in the vertical plane.

The red facade and arches contrast nicely against the blue sky. Good sharpness and a fine overview shot. The fg path adds lead in lines and perspective. I like the wide angled, panoramic crop. The palm trees book-ending the shot add symmetry and frame the scene as well as adding a tropical look. Tfs!

Quite a huge architecture - a typical Mughal style, symmetrically presented to its best effect using available light and here it positively sparkles, you have done really good with the exposure.
