Maha Saptami-GHOT TOLA, a photo from West Bengal, East

Photographer's Note

Saptami is the first day of the Durga puja which is an annual hindu festival that celebrates worship of the hindu goddess Durga. On this very first day the "GHOT TOLA" happens. The main priest or the purohit does the same. And those three guys are taking three "GHOTS". They are not doing anything other than keeping those in the same position, and after the "GHOT TOLA" is complete they will bring those 3 GHOTS into the temple.
I took this photo at my village.

An interesting ritual I was not aware of. You depict it quite well, thoough a bit distant I would say. You might have gone closer to have the viewer a more 'intimate' view of what's happening. Otherwise a nice work!

An interesting shot of Hindu traditions. In my last trip to India, I realised how deep the Indians feel about their religion.
Your picture brings out a peaceful atmosphere with the group of men in or by the lake in a lush, green countryside.
